Description

Purpose of the role:

The Workplace Platforms Engineer will play an integral role in both the day-to-day operation and continued development and enhancement of our workplace technology. This role will also have a focus on the efficient delivery of our business applications to our workplace computing environment.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership for the application packaging process, methods, and tools to ensure the approach is as efficient as possible and delivers maximum flexibility to our business.
  • Package applications efficiently as required by our application teams.
  • Up skill fellow Workplace Platform Engineers in application packaging to provide organisational resilience.
  • Proactively identify, design and develop new capabilities within workplace platforms, to reduce manual effort, increase resilience, and deliver the best possible colleague experience.
  • Take ownership for the security of the technology you work with, and workplace platforms as a whole; ensuring best practice security principles are adopted by default and security vulnerabilities are proactively identified and addressed

Necessary experience or qualifications

Essential:

  • Application packaging using Microsoft App-v.
  • Working Scripting skills, including PowerShell.
  • Enterprise endpoint management tools eg Ivanti Appsense.
  • Application MSI packaging using Pace/ORCA.
  • Practical experience of Windows domain services such as Active Directory, GPO, Azure AD.
  • Desktop builds and deployment using SCCM.
  • Practical experience of Office 365.
  • Maintenance of a Windows 10 desktop environment, including patch deployment.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral).

Desirable:

  • Administration and support of an end user computing environment, in a regulated business.
  • Other Practical experience of Office 365, including Exchange Online, Intune, and beyond.
  • Monitoring and analysis tools, in an end user computing context eg Systrack.
  • An understanding of Desk as a Service (DaaS) cloud technology eg Amazon Workspaces.
  • Practical experience of managing Surface Pros.
  • Hands on experience of a desktop replacement project.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 GCSE's grade A-C or equivalent qualification
  • 2 A Levels grade A-D or equivalent qualification
  • University Degree or equivalent, professional qualification(s)
