Job Description:
DevOps Lead, required to support Client approach to growing its Google Cloud Platform (GCP) offerings. Resource will be one of the core GCP SME's with GCP specific knowledge for the Implementation & Support of the Client project. This project is part of the Client cloud offerings and a further development of GCP.
Resource required for the delivery of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) related project work, which is an urgent stakeholder requirement. There is currently no internal resource within the Bank with suitable Cloud engineering skills available, hence requirement for Contract resource to fill the demand for this Google Cloud project work.
Cloud Platforms requires Infrastructure Engineers (C9 level), being a skilled resource with experience of developing & supporting GCP in large organisations. The role is to support delivery for the GCP Programme. Resource will be assigned work to assist in successful and efficient implementations to production to project timelines. This request applies to the Cloud Platforms GCP team and the Enablement of GCP, AWS & Azure Public Cloud is ongoing work in line with Customer demand

What does this job deliver? (Key accountabilities)
Manage and run production and non-production cloud platforms with no downtime to customers or staff
Evaluate architecture choices on an ongoing basis, in anticipation of increased scale and ever-evolving technology to meet the demands of a rapidly growing business
Drive infrastructure and tooling improvements that enable the business to confidently operate at pace
Establish a DevOps practice that supports and enables engineers and the business
What are the accountabilities of the job?
Deploy scalable cloud (GCP) based services
Responsible for automation and system provisioning, metrics, monitoring, scalability and security
Promote what we do to the wider organisation and technology industry
Proactively mitigate for malicious security risks and put in place a robust Real Time monitoring framework
Knowledge and experience
Deep knowledge of Continuous Integration and Delivery tooling such as Gitlab, continuous deployment, docker and Terraform
Extensive production experience using the Google Cloud Platform including Compute, Networking, Functions, Kubernetes, storage and security
Production experience using Google's big data technology stack, including big query, big query storage, big query analytics and cloud data prep
