AWS Engineer
Salary: £500 - £650 P/D Inside IR35
Location: London - Can be fully remote
Duration: Contract - 6 months + Extensions
This role
You will be working for a client that provides integrated front to Back Office services to investment managers and financial institutions. You will be joining the Unix team, which supports the global Linux and AWS estate and assists development teams in architecting and automating applications.
The estate includes on-premises Servers that host key services such as our portfolio management system, AWS-hosted infrastructure, business-critical storage devices, as well as third-party tools used by internal development teams.
Key Knowledge
- Unix Shell Scripting and automation
- Experience with tools such as Puppet and Terraform
- Good working knowledge of core AWS services
- Good general networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, FTP, SFTP, NTP, iSCSI etc
- NetApp administration
- IBM WebSphere MQ
Key responsibilities
- Management of AWS infrastructure via Terraform
- Investigation and resolution of hardware and software issues, liaising with third parties where necessary
- Assisting developers with application architecture, AWS hosted infrastructure, automation, and CI/CD
- Provisioning and management of physical and virtual Linux Servers, both on-premises and in EC2
- Ongoing patching of Linux operating systems, applications, and appliances
- Involvement in hardware refresh cycles
- Monitoring and capacity planning
