Description

Role - Lead Software Configuration Analyst

Duration - 12 months

Location - London

Software Configuration Management (SCM) is responsible for all application software deployments and configuration across all non-production and production environments. The team is across multiple sites (UK and India).

The role will be to work within the SCM team.

Day to day responsibilities

  • Deploying all inhouse software applications (Windows and Linux supported)
  • Deploying all third-party software applications (Windows and Linux supported)
  • Responsible in keeping code and configuration consistent across all environments
  • Projects where new products that require a deployment process setup
  • New server setup post OS build
  • Coordinating the handover of releases components for Unisys Mainframe and MS. SQL
  • Documenting and executing the implementation plans of a Software release
  • Maintenance of Software release tools including OctopusDeploy and BMC BladeLogic Server Automation as the core deployment tools

Technical skills

  • Good understanding of Windows services and ability to troubleshoot
  • Good understanding of Windows IIS services and ability to troubleshoot
  • Basic understanding of Linux and ability to troubleshoot
  • Experience in using OctopusDeploy for software deployments and configuration management
  • Experience in using BMC BladeLogic Server Automation (desired)
  • Exposure to IBM WebSphere MQ (desired)
  • Exposure to ServiceNow (desired)
  • Exposure to Sharepoint (desired)
  • Exposure to Source control such as TFS/GIT (desired)
  • Scripting knowledge of Powershell or Bash (desired)

Non-Technical skills

  • Able to work independently, prioritising and managing workload to meet objectives within specified timescales
  • Able to work with a remote team
  • Willing to work some weekends where Major releases take place
  • Willing to work some evenings outside business hours, in case of an incident or planned work
  • Good communication and ability to work directly with developers and Engineers across teams and at all levels
  • Represent the team at Change meetings (CAB) and other project stakeholder meetings
  • Able to document implementation and rollback plans
  • Continually seeks to expand technical and business knowledge
