Job Description
An exciting, challenging and technical opportunity has arisen for a Senior Systems ESS Hardware Engineer working within Fast Jet Support.
This role is Warton based with the opportunity to work flexibly.
The role is responsible for supporting existing team members in the delivery of the hardware products.
The position offers the opportunity to operate and collaborate in a hardware support capacity as well as across a diverse range of teams.
The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, proactive and able to communicate effectively at all levels.
The candidate must have a positive attitude towards teamwork, pro-active, building relationships, and take responsibility to drive and ensure delivery of programmes that meet our customer expectations.
They will also have strong problem solving skills and the creativity to propose new ideas and capability improvements.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required to perform tasks suitable to the internal level of this role.

The role will contain, but will not be limited to, the following:
Support people management/development activities for your team
Provide requirements management of all Maintenance Products for all our Customers
Liaising with Customer and Contract teams to define, mature and implement requirements changes in support of Product Release Definitions
Support Customer improvement forums and lead internal Change Control Board (CCB)
Developing Maintenance Products through the engineering life cycle, leading design reviews (formal and informal) and production of associated Declaration of Design and Performance (DDP)
Support new product capability deployment (travel is required)
Supplier Management
Manage the Maintenance Products Contract Status Review (CSR)
Maintain consistency and currency of plans and visual management
Provide inputs into the Service Delivery Technical Reviews
Coordinate with the GSTS Project Management team to ensure products progress through all phases of the engineering life cycle in a timely manner and to the expectation of the Customer
The Individual
Good understanding of networking methodologies (CISCO)
Proven history in supporting storage based retrieval systems (Netapp) VM Enrionments
Installation and configuration of Network Attached Storage, such as standard NAS or more complex systems such as NetApp or Fujitsu Eternus, utilising different RAID configuration.
Software installation in accordance with agreed documentation.
Extensive knowledge and experience of Windows 7, 10, 11 & Windows Server installation (2008, 2019, 2022), configuration, administration and management of Active Directory and Group Policies. In addition to physical Servers are virtual Servers hosting roles such as McAfee ePO, Microsoft WSUS (MS Hotfixes), FTP and other server functions as the environment demands.
Installation, administration and maintenance of the Typhoon maintenance system.
Documentation writing.
Degree/HND educated in a STEM discipline. 5+ years' experience within an engineering discipline.
Extremely competent in the use of IT, Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) and a willingness to adopt new toolsets/ways of working.
Experience of using IBM Rational Tools such as ClearCase, ClearQuest, JIRA.
Sound understanding of the Engineering Lifecycle, experience of requirements capture and product development, both software and hardware is highly advantageous. LAN/WAN network components, routing protocols and switch/Router configuration. Cisco, HP and Meru (wireless) network infrastructure installation, configuration and integration.
