Responsibilities:
Provisioning / In-Scope Configuration Elements
-- Servers (virtual and physical) - Storage and backup devices - Server appliances - Hyper-converged infrastructure (e.g. Nutanix, Cisco UCS) - Tape storage units - Power distribution units rated 3 KVA and below - SAN fabric switches - Network switches - KVM units - WAN optimisation devices - Firewalls - Access points - Routers - Physical cabling - Cable management - Cables connecting the device to itself, a peripheral device or a power/network connection.
Break-Fix / List of technical tasks
- Powering on and off - Running diagnostic commands - Performing whole unit replacement - Inserting/removing media - Replacing faulty components - Helping diagnose and investigate faults - Configuring remote access - Basic storage array configuration - Replacing faulty cables - Tape management and maintenance - Rebooting routers, servers, storage devices or other equipment - Deploying loopback cables to remotely test circuits - Redeploying or replacing components or cables - Cleaning fibre - Identifying/analysing fibre issues using OTDR/LSPM/VFL - Installing loopbacks - Racking and dismantling and upgrading all installed equipment.
