Description

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is seeking a Network Engineer to join their team in East Kilbride.

Team: Foreign and Commonwealth Office|DFID Legacy

Initial contracts will run for 12 months and offer a rate up to £700/day

IR35 STATUS: Inside IR35. This engagement has been assessed by the public body as Inside IR35 legislation. Candidates would be required to operate through an umbrella company on this engagement.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: at 13:00

This role requires Active SC (Security Check) clearance. Applicants require active SC clearance or the willingness to go through clearance before starting on site. Candidates with current clearance will be preferred.

The Role - Hiring Manager Summary

We have a vacancy for a Network Engineer to help develop and evolve our service to meet the fast-changing needs of our partners.

The role will involve working with enterprise networks and developing an understanding of government security guidance to deliver secure network infrastructure services. For this role as well as investigating and resolving 3rd line network related issues you will be expected to translate and deliver architectural designs into operational infrastructure and network environments.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will need to combine strong technical skills with a consultative approach and work within a team of engineers ensuring services are integrated, delivered, and operated to a high standard.

This role requires a strong user focus and an eye for detail - understanding the technology that is required to facilitate the network & infrastructure, and be able to work with minimal supervision or as part of a larger team. Agile project methodologies are the main method used within this area.

Candidate Eligibility

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK, this role will not offer Visa sponsorship. Tier 2 - General visas are cannot be accepted. This role requires that candidates be willing to undergo BPSS (DS) Baseline Personnel Security Standard (with a Disclosure Scotland).
