We are IT Recruitment Specialists partnered with a prestigious Global Consultancy who requires an IBM AIX Unix Engineer for one of their public sector clients based as Remote working.

Description:
We are currently looking for a IBM AIX Unix Engineer to join the Unix/Linux server support team. As part of this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and support of a large-scale enterprise Servers.

Your role

Describe in a few simple sentences the main tasks that the employee will be required to perform.
Proactively maintain and develop all IBM AIX infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service
Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs
Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments
Fault finding, analysis and of logging information for reporting of performance exceptions
Proactively monitoring system performance and capacity planning
Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on Servers, workstations, and network hardware
Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks
Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment
Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes
Unix Support Engineers are required to work to a shift pattern that spans 08:00 - 18:00. This is also a requirement for on-call support and out of hours work.

Your profile

Research tells us we can attract a more gender-balanced shortlist by using a shorter list of requirements
Knowledge of IBM AIX is essential
HP UX and Solaris as well as Linux is an Advantage.
Familiarity with VMWare and SAN management and concepts
Experience of Clustering, Docker or Kubernetes an advantage.
Experience of Shell, Python and Ansible Scripting an advantage.
Additional Linux certifications (RHCT, RHCE and LPIC) will be considered an advantage
