Description

The Cancer Manager will lead and co-ordinate the development and delivery of the Cancer Services Improvement Programme. He/she will identify opportunities for service redesign, review and improve cancer pathways and make recommendations to the Trust to ensure that best practice is shared across the clinical teams.

The Cancer Manager, in partnership with the Lead Cancer Clinician and cancer services management team, is responsible for all aspects of the co-ordination of cancer activity including monitoring of contract and performance KPIs and interpreting and communicating the requirements for developing services in line with national, regional and local cancer strategies.

He/she will work with directorate managers to ensure that end to end analysis of cancer pathways is undertaken and to provide assurance regarding the Trust's ability to meet cancer wait times standards. He/she will ensure that appropriate governance and reporting systems are in place and that any risks to performance are identified and managed appropriately within the specialties.

The post holder will work in partnership with the local health community to develop services that meet the requirements of the local population. He/she will ensure that developments are integrated with other priority areas including the Trust's local delivery plan and other modernisation programmes.

In addition, the post holder will lead on the development of a sustainable business plan for the department, ensuring service line agreements are in place and that key relationships with tertiary providers are maintained.
