NHS Contracts Manager - Band 8D

I am working alongside an NHS client based in London who are looking for a high level Contracts Manager to join their highly experienced team.

The Contracts Manager will responsible to the Head of Contracts & will be focusing on a portfolio of community & acute contracts so experience in these areas is essential. The role will be for an initial 3 months with a strong possibility of extension.

I am looking for candidates who can start within the next 2 weeks, please find below the outline of the Contracts Manager position.

Day to day duties of the Contract Manager:
  • Leading the negotiation process on a portfolio of community & acute contracts
  • Liaising with external commissioners in order to achieve targets set out in the commissioning intentions
  • Manage & monitor the financial performance & rectify any issues accordingly
  • Develop appropriate improvement plans & KPI's in order to manage contracts function
  • Work closely with managers in the finance & performance teams
  • Ensuring reporting systems are constantly up to date
  • Set out long term strategic plans to ensure contract compliance
  • Actively organise meetings with commissioners to negotiate new terms & ensure KPI's are being met
  • Provide advice & training to managers around contract strategy, negotiation & performance monitoring
  • Deputise for the Head of Contracts at meetings where necessary


Requirements for the Contracts Manager:
  • Experience in senior contracts roles within NHS organisations
  • Acute & Community contracts experience is an essential, please do not apply if you do not have experience working in this environment
  • High level negotiation & influencing skills are required
  • Performance management & finance management would be useful
  • Experience of managing various NHS contracts at once
  • Good knowledge of financial management
  • Detailed knowledge of NHS standard contract
  • Evidence of managing successful relationships with key stakeholders
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to analyse complex facts & situations
  • Attention to detail
  • Presentation skills
