Our Client based in Hampshire are looking for a Safety Consultant for a 6-9 month Contract with likely extensions.

Role:

  • Lead safety analysis and planning required to ensure products are developed in accordance with ARP4761/ARP4754A and driving design solutions that meet customer and business needs.
  • Provide guidance and oversight of designs to ensure compliance with safety, maintainability and reliability requirements.
  • Develop and implement structured engineering solutions to meet programme requirements across the whole development life cycle in accordance with customer requirements, legislation, human factors and business needs.

Essential Skills:

  • Extensive experience of system safety assessment in accordance with ARP4761 requirements and of validating and verifying that the system safety case and reliability predictions to MIL-HDBK-217 produced as a result of and meeting the original specification and certification requirements (eg ILCFR/CS parts 23 & 25)
  • Disciplined and rigorous approach to safety, maintainability and reliability requirements management and ability to ask challenging questions about the requirements and architecture of the system at each level of the hierarchy.
  • Experience of facilitating trade-offs between hardware and software implementations and deriving discipline specific requirements.
  • Experienced in the System Safety Assessments process, including Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA), Preliminary System Safety Analysis (PSSA), System Safety Analysis (SSA), Common Cause Analysis (CCA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Mode Effect ( & criticality) Analysis (FMEA), Zonal Safety Analysis (ZSA) and Common Mode Analysis (CMA).
  • Experience of working with customers, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, quality, manufacturing and other company departments.
  • Experience of negotiating and agreeing a specification.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of aircraft certification requirements
  • Aircraft electronic equipment design experience.
  • Knowledge of how different aircraft systems interface with each other and how they use the information.
  • Experience of leading formal decision analysis and resolution.
  • Understanding of human factors requirements
  • Experience of using Reqtify, DOORS or a similar requirements management tool.
