Description

My client is looking for an articulate, self-motivated and proactive individual to join the Core Infrastructure Team. The successful applicant will be working in a team of 9 staff who manage the network and server infrastructure for 2,600 supported users. A rapidly expanding department offering staff exciting and varied challenges, and has a track record of providing excellent career progression and training opportunities.

The role holder will be a member of the networking group which is one of two groups within the Core Infrastructure Team. S/he will work with other group members to resolve all networking and information security issues, and assist in the implementation and administration of an Information Security Management System based on the ISO standards. The networking group also undertake the design, implementation, commissioning and testing of network cable and equipment installation for site infrastructure networks and institutional networks.

This role is a specialist IT position and it requires specific skills to support the Clinical School's enterprise level infrastructure. It has a high level of responsibility and may require work to be performed out of hours.

Applicants are expected to hold a good degree or equivalent qualification and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The chosen candidate must have demonstrable knowledge, understanding and some experience in the following areas:
  • The concepts behind access control, identity management, cryptography and security policies.
  • An understanding of the ISO 27001 standard, the concept of Information Security Management Systems and the information security controls within ISO 27002.
  • Knowledge of enterprise network environments using Cisco IOS up to CCNA level (switching, routing, QoS), firewalls and VPN technologies, intrusion detection, anti-virus and penetration testing.
  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and understanding.


In addition to this, some knowledge of the following areas is also desirable - Windows Enterprise Server and Domain Environments and Active Directory, Cisco CCNA Security or ISC2 Systems Security Certified Practitioner.

Formal training in information security will be provided to the successful candidate during the term of their employment.
