Description

A Renewable Energy Operator is looking for an Onshore Cable Installation Site Supervisor to supervise the contractor’s cable trenching, ducting, cable installation, jointing and testing activities on site, ensuring the safety, quality and accuracy of the structures being built. The Site Supervisor will start an 18 month contract in early July. The Onshore Cable Installation Site Supervisor will report to the Onshore Cable Site Manager, liaising with Onshore Cable Package Manager and the technical engineering team.
The principal contractor and designer (under the CDM regulations) will have design responsibility for the cable route, cable procurement, trenching and drainage design, cable installation, test and commission.

Duties:

  • Deliver client supervision of the Contractor’s site team during the duct installation, cable pulling, jointing and testing and reinstatement phases of the works
  • Deputise for the Site Manager when required
  • Liaison with the client HSE advisors and support team including CDMC / PD
  • Monitoring and logging of the Contractor’s progress and performance on site
  • When required produce non-conformance Reports and liaise with EON QA/QC Engineers
  • Provide clients inspection of the quality and accuracy of setting out and the final build of each element including civil and electrical aspects
  • Preparation of detailed reports to the EON Site Manager and Onshore Cable Package Manager as required
  • Liaison with members of the EON Onshore Substation installation team
  • Contribute to Risk Review, HAZID and HAZOP studies through early design
  • Build and maintain a close working relationship with local stakeholders and if necessary attend the bi monthly Local Liaison Committee Meetings, these are held outside normal working hours

Requirements:

  • Have a working knowledge of construction health, safety and environmental legislation
  • Demonstrate recent experience (minimum 10 years) of supervising major and complex civil construction sites with recent utility experience
  • Hold qualifications supporting a Civil / Electrical Engineering construction discipline
  • Be a recognised site supervisor holding SSSTS, CCNSG Safety Passport (Supervisor), NEBOSH Construction Certificate or similar
  • Have a working knowledge of the New Roads and Streetworks Act
