Description

Job title: Senior Risk, Control & Governance Manager, Contract

Location: Northampton

Duration: 3 months

Rate: £450-£550/day

Key accountabilities of the role are to:
  • Support the BUCO in setting, maintaining and implementing the risk appetite within which employees can operate, ensuring that this is articulated and communicated (both verbal and written communications) within the business and relevant functions, from junior colleagues up to Senior stakeholders (MD)
  • Work with the 2nd line teams (operational risk; regulatory compliance and financial crime) to understand policy implications & translate this into appropriate action plans and reporting and monitoring frameworks
  • Provide 1st line risk management support to ensure that risks are understood by colleagues and are consistent with appetite and comply with Group policies, applicable laws and regulations and card scheme requirements
  • Regularly review and challenge quality assurance activity and certification of the adequacy and effectiveness of controls and compliance with Group policies and self-testing of regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Ensure that all members of staff are aware of their risk management responsibilities through communication and training
  • Support the BUCO to drive a culture of control and compliance
  • Deputise for BUCO, especially in the regulatory and mandatory pipeline with day to day leadership of significant projects across multiple change teams


I am looking for candidates with the following experience:
  • Good knowledge of retail banking operations and the financial services industry in general to be able to identify appropriate control and risk requirements
  • Ability to deliver through wide and complex matrix/virtual teams
  • Knowledge of risk and control landscape to help individual make the 'right' judgements to any aspect of the control environment
  • The ability to write concise, precise and 'jargon free' documents
  • The ability to communicate effectively with different levels of grade on complex subject matters and opportunities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and standards relevant to control environments
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing strategies that improve control landscapes
  • Experience of managing Senior Stakeholder relationships to a high standard
