Description

Summary:
  • Writes test plans for printer test projects.
  • Implements complex printer test plans with no supervision.
  • Works from prints, sketches, written and verbal instructions and is capable of interpreting specifications.
  • Prepares new testing procedures as well as updates existing ones.
  • Has expert knowledge of all test suites, test procedures, and products tested in the lab.
  • Participates in competitive product testing and analysis.
  • Analyzes test data with statistical programs.
  • Generates complete and detailed test reports that document test results and pinpoint any failures.
  • Determines printer performance with the proper equipment and according to established procedures.
  • Confers with engineering personnel to review test plans, such as types and cycles of tests, conditions under which tests are to be conducted, and duration of tests.
  • Assists engineers in determining the type of test that will generate the optimum data.
  • May recommend changes in test methods or equipment for engineering review.
  • Provides first level failure analysis and assists in root cause failure analysis.
  • Works directly with engineers in resolving bugs.
  • Trains junior technicians and coordinates the activities of other personnel working on multiple test projects.
  • Maintains the department in good order and takes care of all tools and instruments.
  • Applies developed expertise in products, test equipment, and/or test software
  • As a skilled specialist, completes tasks in resourceful and effective ways
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments
  • May be informal team leader
  • Receives Limited Supervision, exercising judgment within broadly defined policies and practices in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
  • Error may cause moderate delays in schedules or rework impacting own operational area or may moderately impact the operations of other areas
  • Contributes primarily through execution of defined processes and procedures
  • Makes recommendations and leads implementation to enhance performance and improve productivity
  • Works on complex issues of significant scope
  • Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative
  • Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solution

SKILLS:

Qualifications:
  • Full knowledge of job related policies and procedures as well as corporate policies and procedures that may impact role functioning
  • Has working knowledge of all (or most) of product line/technology --- OR --- Has in-depth knowledge of a product/technology (subject matter expert)
  • A new hire has the ability to apply industry experience and testing expertise to testing methodologies
  • Able to resolve issues independently with the help of other personnel
  • Displays the ability to make decisions to maintain test progress
  • Requires ability to gain cooperation of others
  • Associate Degree and 6-9 years testing experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Extremely proficient with computers and extremely competent with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proficient with the latest Window Operating Systems (98, NT, ME, 2K, and XP)
  • Networking and Wireless principles
  • Basic knowledge of electronics and mechanical applications
  • Ability to lift 45 pounds
  • Basic technical knowledge and abilities
  • Able to use computer and have basic mechanical and electrical background
  • Trade school or associates degree is desired.
