AmazingRibs.com is a very popular web site dedicated to barbecue and grilling. We need a expert vBulletin developer who can help us as a part time contractor. PLEASE, do NOT apply for this position unless you have direct and recent experience in vBulletin.We anticipate around 20 to 30 hours per week on average at the outset, but if you have the right skill set and can run with the ball we are happy to give you more! We are a small team, primarily based in the Chicago area, but you can be located anywhere. We prefer US or Canadian residents.
You will manage our subscription-based vBulletin forum called "The Pit". The work is complicated because The Pit is behind a paywall linked to Stripe credit card processing and PayPal. It is heavily customized and performs tasks like sending out welcome letters and renewal notices. It also has special coupons and other unusual features.
We will make sure you are well compensated, and we pride ourselves on paying electronically within 48 hours of invoice.

You will be responsible for
- Fixing bugs.
- Installing patches and updates.
- Improving UI and functionality.
- Improving reporting systems (membership lists, renewal rates, etc.).
- Security.

- Able to handle emergencies and be on call when needed (a rarity).
- Great communication skills.
- Like working in a collaborative, team-based environment.
- Attention to detail.
- Experience using version control (we use GitHub) to manage your code and working with a team that uses version control.
- Expert at js, php, and CSS.
- Adherence to vB best practices.
- Document your work.

- Have other skills, especially Drupal.
- Are self-managing and self-motivated.
- Are confident but don't have an oversized ego.
- Have a great attitude and love food, especially outdoor cooking.
Skills & Requirements
- Experience with latest vBulletin versions
- Experience applying patches and processing upgrades
- Experience with PHP coding
- Experience with JavaScript coding
- Experience with HTML5 and CSS3 for responsive design
- Experience with payment gateways and custom programming
