Job Description:
This role as a Network Architect is responsible for the development of Data Center network infrastructures.

The candidate will contribute significantly to the innovation, strategy and delivery of emerging network architectures and will be collaborating in a consultative manner with systems engineering, operations, project management, and security.

Responsibilities

This person will be responsible for creating detailed architecture designs for next generation Data Center network technologies and creating engineering guidelines for enhancements based on current production deployments.

This includes but is not limited to all Data Center network aspects/designs and trends and design, network overlay technologies, network function virtualization, service chaining, large scale Data Center Switch fabric architectures.

The Network architect would be responsible for recommending platforms, assist with feature/code recommendations, planning for high availability, sizing systems, estimating bandwidth and the design impacts of features, capabilities and additional applications.

Essential skills

  • Network design experience from a datacenter environment
  • Advanced experience of Cisco ACI and demostrable design experience with this technology
  • Advanced understanding of network infrastructure technologies
  • Excellent IP Networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols
  • Expertise in a majority of the following technologies and protocols: MPLS, BGP, OSPF, SIP, RTP, IP, TCP (internals and flow control), UDP, DNS, DHCP, DWDM, SONET, T1/E1, Ethernet, IPv6, VPNs, Firewalls, wireless, & IT security best practices
  • Experience with delivering network features opposed to simple network administration.
  • Managed services experience creating, managing, and delivering
  • Experience with IT transformation - data center consolidations and migration
  • Knowledge of architecture and service models (TOGAF, SOA)
  • ITIL (foundational level, but exposure to more detail than foundation is often necessary)
  • Consulting skills - able to communicate ideas, design solutions, and market them across the company
  • Understanding of the need for governance, risk, security, and compliance
