Our award-winning, world-leading technology client is looking for a technical author to write, update, edit and maintain a variety of technical hardware and software content to support their advanced hardware and software digital technology. Part home working each week is possible.
What's needed?
- An experienced technical author able to produce primarily computer hardware documentation, with some software documentation too.
- A strong track record of writing for global audiences.
- A very good understanding of the documentation production life cycle.
- You'll be very comfortable gathering information from developers and engineers.
- A good knowledge of industry standard tools and technologies, with the ability to learn and adapt quickly to new tools.
- Technical skills or knowledge:
- Hardware knowledge - an understanding of computer hardware/architecture/System-on-Chip designs/Microprocessor AND/OR software knowledge at a technical level with the ability and enthusiasm to learn the hardware side
- DITA, HTML, XML, XSLT, Doxygen or similar tools.
- C, C++ or related OO language.
- Perl, Python or similar Scripting language.
- User experience.
- Software and hardware integration/platform bring-up.
- A hardware + software background would be ideal
- Sound judgement and clear decision making abilities.
- A fast learner of new technologies and standards.
- A flexible and pragmatic approach.
- The ability to manage your workload to meet tight deadlines is a must.
