Proteus Europe is searching for a Front End Engineer available tot start on an initial 6 month contract, and who would wish to convert to permanent staff after this period, subject to performance for one of our clients in London.

Your New role :-

The company teams build applications used by tens of thousands of internal staff per day, and we work with massive, real time datasets spanning the globe using an ever changing mix of technology - front end/visualization tools, connectors, data pipelines, and - big data- back end/stores. Each of these has - features- which can be used in various ways. Taking steer from business stakeholders (- why- ), architects (- what- ) and developers (- how- ), the Platform Capability Engineer defines - how- these features are to be used in Analytics and Reporting projects in Downstream, tests them and defines the standards, constraints/boundaries and best practice for each item, then trains and supports the rest of the organization in their use, through both formal training sessions and by working on day to day projects.
The most successful engineers are collaborative, working well with vendors and internal teams of technical experts, stakeholders, and architects to cut straight to the most valuable innovations. They understand how these innovations will be used, and apply broad experience and standardized patterns to ensure that testing is both thorough and risk based in order to get the best for company. With a natural curiosity, theyre highly driven, often with a consultant background.
Purpose and Accountabilities:
Drive the identification and development of the use of features and capabilities in the tools, platforms and systems used by the Analytics and Reporting teams, including the development and maturation of standards, best practice, patterns, checklists, guidance and training.
Challenge and advise - when working on projects, the best engineers are partners and consultants, not just executors of process.
Deliver face to face, recorded, ad-hoc and personal training and support to peers, managers and others.
Dimensions
The Platform Capability Engineer reports to the Analytics Engineering Manager and has between 1 and 4 direct reports. The Platform Capability Engineer reports to the Senior Platform Capability Engineer. Commercial Awareness - Influence on programme scope of $USD 10M+ Consultant mindset - must be constantly thinking about how the status quo could be improved. Stakeholder management - typically works within cross-functional teams. Needs strong stakeholder skills to ensure teams are all working towards the same goals. Highly customer focused and fast paced environment. Special Challenges Needs to be able to deal with state of the art, differentiated and often unproven technologies which require some learning on the job Needs to be comfortable with sometimes vague and changing scope and priorities in a rapidly changing environment Ability to interact and build relationships both within the company (IT and Business teams) and external software suppliers. Ability to ensure one team mind set across IT teams, product vendors and business colleagues in order to drive more effective delivery. We work in globally dispersed teams - flexible working hours will be expected. Some travel is expected.

Your Skills and Qualifications :-

Essential Skills :-
Bachelor or master degree in a technology, design or engineering-related field.
Formal knowledge of information technology and computer science theory.
Formal training as a scrum master (CSM, PSM etc.) and as a product owner. Second level (CSP, PSM II etc.) would be a strong benefit. Relevant Experience Required
Experience as a consultant developing service offerings at a top 10 consulting firm.
Working knowledge of SCRUM and other agile approaches e.g. Kanban, XD, etc. Practical experience is a strong plus.
Experience working with developers on typical corporate IT systems or projects.
Highly analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and balancing multiple priorities.
Strong written and verbal communications skills, in English, required.
Have strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills. Is highly experienced in communicating with business at all levels.
Experience creating and using a wide range of scrum and agile artefacts and techniques e.g. continuous improvement, automated testing, personas, user stories, agile games etc.
Deep, practical experience with at least some of the following:
- SAP technologies (SAP ECC/ERP, SAP BW, SAP HANA etc.)
- Reporting/visualization tools (e.g. SAP Lumira/Design Studio, Spotfire, Power BI or others)- SQL-based technologies (e.g. MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Restful API developments.- data blending technology (e.g. Alteryx)
- Microsoft or AWS data stack e.g. Microsoft Azure Data Lake, Hadoop (preferably with Spark), Cosmos DB, HDInsight/HBase, MongoDB, Redis, Azure Table/Blob stores etc.
- Agile Project Delivery techniques (e.g. SCRUM, Kanban, XD, ).
- Design and coding skills (e.g. Python, Scala, JavaScript). Preferred
Experience working in a global team/working in a global business environment/different cultures.
Experience with information architecture and design techniques (local/abstract).
Comfortable to work with global stakeholders, internally and externally.
Design and coding skills (e.g. Python, Scala, JavaScript).
