Business/Systems Analyst

Purpose of the Role:

Our client is seeking a Business/Systems Analyst to work on I.S. projects. The Business Systems Analyst works as a member of the Project Team to design new IT solutions to improve business efficiency and productivity. Working closely with the business stakeholders, the Analyst will examine existing business models and flows of data, discuss their findings with the business, agree requirements, and design an appropriate IT solution in conjunction with the project team.

He/she will contribute to the outline designs of new IT systems, specifying the functions the system will perform, and the way information will be viewed by the user, jointly with User Experience Experts. He/she will work together with the project team to deliver the backlog defined by utilising agile methods.

The successful candidate will be assigned to programmes and projects. As a team member he/she will be expected to work closely and effectively with other team members such as I.S. Managers, Business Stakeholders, System Architects, other Systems and QA Analysts, Project Managers, and Software Developers.

The Business Systems Analyst will be expected to apply the approved methodologies and standards in delivering recommendations that are compliant with Portfolio and Enterprise Architecture direction.

This role, based in Dublin, is associated with the Business/Systems Analysis Career Centre which is based in Dublin, Ireland. However, the successful candidate may be expected to work on programmes/projects across Ireland & Germany and thus might require regular travel to Cologne or Frankfurt/Neu-Isenburg. The ideal candidate would be fluent in English and German.

  • Interact extensively with stakeholders. Develop an excellent understanding of business needs
  • Work with I.S. and Business Stakeholders to understand the business architecture and the high level business drivers
  • Critically understand the business stakeholders' operations and systems. Analyse and evaluate present or proposed business procedures or problems to define processes, business and technical services
  • Translate high level processes and requirements into user stories and tasks
  • Provide input to project planning and ongoing development plans
  • Work collaboratively as part of the Project Team
  • Work with Architects, Software Engineers, UX Experts and various other project team members to determine potential solutions
  • Work as a member of the project team ensuring proposed software developments meet business requirements
  • Contribute to project feasibility reports and assist with presenting convincing proposals to the stakeholder
  • Work with the software developers, 3rd party vendors, and End Users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction
  • Keep knowledge up to date with technical developments and solutions in the industry

Selection Criteria:

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 3rd level education preferably in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Fluent English
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in Business and/or Systems Analysis, preferably in agile projects or programmes
  • Expert in detailed analysis techniques with the ability to translate requirements into a backlog of tasks to achieve the desired business outcomes
  • Good understanding of agile methods, platforms, and security
  • Ability to plan, test, implement, and troubleshoot microservices and service solutions
  • Ability to analyse situations and make solid decisions, using good judgment
  • Understanding of business practices and processes
  • Good communication skills
  • Self motivated with a positive and flexible attitude
  • Excellent team player

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Fluent German
  • Knowledge and experience of the German Insurance Market
  • Experience working in geographically distributed teams
