Process Engineer - Level 1

GSK Montrose, Scotland

6 Month Contract

Pay: Up to £53 p/h

Description:

As a process engineer at the Montrose site, the successful candidate will work in the Technical Development Department and provide process-engineering expertise. This would involve working as a member of a cross-functional team to support primary manufacture processes and contributing to the resolution of technical issues having process-engineering dimensions, including development of corrective and preventative actions to mitigate against their recurrence.

Other areas of involvement may include

- Providing technical process engineering input to capital projects - including design, equipment specification, and safety studies

- Continuously improving process safety on site through identifying and assessing risk, and designing mitigation solutions

- Supporting the site's automation ambition through design, specification and commissioning of automation projects

Basic qualifications:

Applicants should be able to demonstrate:

- Minimum of a BSc/BEng degree in Process or Chemical Engineering or equivalent

- Thorough understanding of processes by applying fundamental engineering principles.

- Experience in:

o Supporting the manufacture of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs)

o Developing and implementing software changes on DCSs, preferably Emerson DeltaV, FAT testing, etc..

o Process safety ie assessments such as HAZOP, SIL, Hazardous Area Classifications, emergency pressure relief devices.

o Environmental legislation, issues ie control of emissions (prevention and/or abatement)

o Commissioning.

o Design and/or plant modifications

Alongside sound technical ability, the successful candidate:

- Is able to demonstrate problem solving ability

- Is highly motivated

- Has effective communication skills - both verbal and written

- Has the ability to work effectively with and influence others at all levels

- Is able to operate as part of a team with positive interpersonal skills

- Is able to take a leading role.

Preferred qualifications:

- Education at MSc level or higher.

- Experience in the use of simulation/design software ie Aspen, Hysis, PEL
