Procurement Consultant - IT & Telco

Whitehall Resources are looking for an experienced Procurement Consultant for an initial 3 month contract.

This role can be completed remotely, however, will require visits to the client's site in London, Manchester and Birmingham.

Job Description:
Reporting into the Hardware Global Category Manager for IT &Telco Procurement an experienced and committed individual who can implement and follow up with stakeholders a procurement strategy for Hardware purchases in globally. The total spend is 40 M€/year.

Essential Skills/Experience:
- Several years' experience (5+) within a leading edge company recognised for its purchasing excellence.
- IT & Telco category specific experience, strategic sourcing and proven ability to work in a logical and thorough way with ability to pay attention to details. A strong emphasis on risk management through negotiation of the appropriate contract terms and conditions.
- A track record of developing category plan related to IT & Telco categories globally and the associated achievement of cost savings. Additionally to measure and demonstrate improvements in customer service.
- Ability to demonstrate innovative solutions to complicated purchasing initiatives, in a fast moving and demanding environment.
- Ability to understand ongoing changes in the Hardware market and adapt your procurement strategy accordingly.

Key Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the optimal balance between value for money and cost savings is achieved, while ensuring quality and excellent customer service
- Demonstrate a strong ability to anticipate, map, consolidate and manage his portfolio to close best in class deals with Hardware vendors
- Contribute and support the business in the ongoing development of the purchasing strategy for Hardware through the introduction of leading edge and best practice techniques
- Liaise with all stakeholders to communicate on new initiatives and ensure the service given is well received
- Develop global category plan to maximize spend coverage and compliance
- Collaborate with Local Procurement community to align purchasing strategy, identify spend leveraging opportunities and operationalize global agreements.
- Ensure all procurement opportunities are investigated and realized where possible
- Identify and implement improvements in processes, tools, and documentation in Hardware Group Procurement.
- You will align with global business objectives set by the client to achieve best value for money
- You will manage your portfolio, identify key contractual dates and build a clear roadmap aligned with the Hardware Category Manager.
- You will work with the Group Category Director and Global Category Manager community to support management of Key Stakeholders globally, to ensure that the category strategy is understood and agreed.
- You will take ownership for and implement agreed purchasing strategies in global and local procurement processes; developing, extending and changing it as necessary; and working with the Group Category Director and Regional CPO's to seek approval/commitment from the board and key business leaders.
- You will review and support category/market data and associated spend data analysis for management reporting.
- You will support the Group Category Director regarding compliance management, monitoring and reporting.
- You will develop and own category input and initiatives into the budget process and forecasting Procurement cost savings initiatives within iProcure. This will require category input from a global, regional and local level.
- You will work with the Global Category communities and Category Director to ensure suppliers within category act according to the clients Values eg Code of Business Ethics, Anti-Corruption Policy, Group Fair Competition Laws.
- You will contribute to the strategic direction of Procurement and ensure that the procurement category strategy correlates with overall business initiatives.
- You will help support the procurement operations transformation and savings initiatives
- You will manage projects and sourcing requests within agreed timescales and budget when required, in order to develop the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
- You will appropriate risk management techniques to support the broader procurement strategy.
- You will deploy a strong Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) with your key suppliers by running performance reviews and organizing Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).

Personal Qualities:
- Should be perceived as a hard and fair negotiator, who manages and develops suppliers to meet customer requirements,
- Be a "doer", project management minded to ensure the delivery of the expected results through the deployment of the defined sourcing strategies,
- Must be flexible and have strong influencing skills in order to use both a facilitative and directive approach to "sell" method to stakeholders and negotiate with suppliers.
- Good communication and networking skills and able to work effectively as either an individual or as part of a team in a Matrix environment.
- Highly motivated towards achieving cost savings and corporate goals (ie commercially minded)
- Must have excellent inter-personal skills in order to become accepted in a challenging environment and driving change in a positive manner
