Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Desktop Support Engineer to join a well-established organization in Dublin, Ireland.

This will be an initial 3-6 month contract with likely extensions.

Job Description

As an Desktop Support Engineer you should have excellent communication skills, customer services attitude and very good technical skills in Microsoft and related end user technologies.

Role responsibilities

*To support the end user issues related to the Desktop environment.
*Detailed recording of incidents and work requests in the Service Management Tool, Service-Now (prior knowledge desirable).
*Desktop hardware and software installation.
*Remote support of PC's/Wyse terminals using software.
*Liaising and communicating with relevant support teams to ensure efficient escalation and hand-off of service issues.
*Documentation of methods and techniques to improve overall team performance.
*Attaining and maintaining Key Performance Indicators and Service Level targets both personally and departmentally.
*Complete scheduled End User Compute tasks, checks and processes.
*Proactively updating documentation and transferring the knowledge to Service Desk.

Required Skills

*Support Windows 7/8/8.1 Desktops/Laptops
*Knowledge of Windows AD and GPO
*Knowledge of desktop virtualization (eg VMWare/VDI)
*Desktop package and deployment tools and technology (Altiris, SMS, etc...)
*Antivirus deployment
*End user support and troubleshooting
*Blackberry support
*MS Office Skills (MS Office 2013)
*Active Directory knowledge
*Knowledge of root cause analysis, issue trending and learning pro

Preferred (Good to Have)

Be able to assume additional responsibilities when needed -
*Assess and recommend process and technology changes to effectively manage the end user compute environment
*Develop tools and processes to manage end user assets
*Suggest better ways of working to respond to user requests faster
*Excellent documentation skills to document various operating standards for hardware and software, including operating system images.
*Prior experience in packaging tools such as App-V and Remote App
*Prior experience in testing hardware and software prior to release
*Impact analysis on any platform level changes
*Knowledge of Scripting to achieve automation in managing desktop/printer environment
*Ability to analyse recurring patterns of issues and to suggest permanent fixes.
