Job Title: Applications Engineer/Vibration Controls Engineer

Department: Sales/Technical

Reporting into: National Sales Manager

Location: Must be based in Manchester/Liverpool or surrounding areas. Travel Required.

Contract: Initial 6 months

A fantastic opportunity for a varied and exciting role has arisen for my client who engineers polymer materials for the Oil and Gas industry for vibration isolation, damping, pipe-support, pipe-clamp, thermal insulation, and expansion bearing applications.

The role is a diverse client-facing role and you will be responsible for the life cycle of products in the UK and Ireland. 50% of your time will be office based with 50% travelling around the UK and Ireland to support the Sales Manager. Occasional travel internationally will be required. Mechanical Design for manufacture experience is essential.

Main Duties and Key Features:

  • Applications - Investigation, calculation, selection and assisting customers and Area Sales Managers with Technical Support for all products. Shared and supported with training.
  • Will be required to attend the customer's site throughout Projects or Applications, where face to face discussions at the various stages of the Applications process are essential as requested by the Area Sales Managers and/or customer.
  • Maintain the company's project type applications numbering system. Shared and supported with training.
  • Maintain application data & records of application opportunities on CRM software (ADSoft).
  • Undertake customer site surveys to investigate inherent anti-vibration problems to be solved with our engineering team in the USA and Germany. Shared with Area Sales Managers.
  • Apply, inform or implement any Engineering Standards of our main supplier companies.
  • Investigate, develop, design and prototype new products and derivatives of existing products.
  • Set up and run product performance and cycle testing.
  • Assisting with training workshops.
  • Provide any manufacturing or supplier insight of Anti-vibration material or motion control products.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • HNC/D, BTEC, or Beng in mechanical Engineering.
  • Work experience in Mechanical Engineering manufacturing.
  • Commercial and Sales acumen or characteristics.
  • Strong multitasking skills of a key role in a small overseas division of a larger USA-Swedish company.
  • Experience in using CAD software and producing special part drawings.
