My Client a leading energy suppler requires a Lead Architect - Microsoft Teams & Office 365 Architect

Role synopsis

Lead Architect is the subject matter expert and architecture lead for a Microsoft Skype to Teams migration project including responsibility for the architecture and design of a global Microsoft Teams platform. The role will require working as part of an agile team in order to develop a robust and suitable migration path from the companies existing Lync Server and Skype client environment.

Further, the role will cover architectural leadership and subject matter expertise for the Office 365 platform. The company are in the process of expanding its use of O365 both in terms of applications and features and an architecture lead is required in order to ensure that this adoption is applied in a consistent and methodical fashion.

Key accountabilities

  • Develop the architecture and design for the companies global Microsoft Teams platform
  • Support the development of the migration plan and delivery roadmap which will facilitate the migration of Lync/Skype users to Teams
  • Produce any necessary architectural deliverables; Architecture Vision, High-Level design, Detailed design etc.
  • Provide architectural guidance and thought leadership for O365 in order to facilitate adoption and exploitation of new enhanced functionality
  • Collate and document architecturally significant enablers from across all IT&S programs and provide documented strategy and architecture in support of the program
  • Ensure alignment of the project with IT&S standards and broader strategy
  • Seek and gain approval for project architecture and migration plan from project stakeholders
  • Provide thought leadership and communication in order to resolve technical issues across the delivery teams, application owners and other stakeholders.
  • Build and sustain credible relationships through liaison with segment architects, technical specialists, application managers, and delivery teams.
  • Provides hands-on advice to management and project teams; Provides hands-on guidance in support technical and migration issues
  • Enhances Digital Workplace reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value.
  • Ability to inspire change across the organization and create a sense of urgency to deliver the new platform

Essential Education

  • Minimum requirement of four-year college degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience

Essential experience and job requirements

  • Experience working in geographically dispersed organizations;
  • Extensive technical skills in Microsoft Lync Server, Skype and Teams
  • Experience of migrating complex Lync and Skype environments to Teams
  • Extensive technical skills in the Microsoft Office 365 platform
  • In-depth technical skills to perform effectively in a hybrid environment with multiple datacenters and multiple public cloud service providers
  • A highly-motivated self-starter. Must be able to maintain focus on achieving results, whilst being patient and pragmatic
  • Must be an intelligent, articulate and persuasive collaborator who can serve as an effective member of the project, who can communicate options to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Experience working in an Agile or DevOps environment
