Description

  • 5 years post graduate (or equivalent) experience
  • Either have been awarded Chartered status (CEng, MIGEM, IMechE, MEI) or have equivalent technical experience to work towards this.
  • The ability to demonstrate and communicate a comprehensive knowledge and experience in project planning, due diligence and design issues relating to fuel supplies for power generation, natural gas transmission and distribution together with storage systems for natural gas related infrastructures associated with Residential, Retail, Industrial and Commercial Developments as well as a wide knowledge of both UK and global oil and gas industry standards and legislative requirements.
  • Registration as a G17/G35 Design Approver/Appraiser and experience with LNG would be advantageous.
  • Technical reports, site appraisals, design calculations and the management of project drawings together with technical independence within the field of oil and gas transportation and storage systems design.
  • Good knowledge of the relevant UK and international gas industry design codes such as IGEM/TD/1; TD/13; TD/4; TD/3; ASME: B31.8; B31.3; B31.4; etc. - well versed in the development of project documentation, preparation and interpretation of drawings, Materials and Equipment Data sheets. Knowledge of National Grid/GDN standards would be advantageous.
  • Fully conversant in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of software applications, competence in other technical software applications would be advantageous to the position eg AutoCAD and PDS. The ability to direct and check design outputs making use of this software would be seen as a further advantage.
  • You will have particular experience in liaising with clients, co-professionals and design teams. Also experience of liaising with highway, water, rail, statutory and local authorities in negotiating the necessary outline and detailed technical approvals, would be advantageous.

Possess a good knowledge of the legislative processes associated with planning, design and technical consents process. Furthermore, adoption and contract procedures for the routing of high-pressure natural gas transmission pipelines, distribution pipelines, mains and asset infrastructure projects and how, if applied effectively these skills combine to add value to a client's project/development proposal. You will also have a robust knowledge of the financial and contractual aspects of planning, bidding, and delivering both large and small projects.
