Events and Marketing Manager - Edinburgh - Outside IR35 - 3 months + Extensions

Role purpose

Reporting to the Senior Events and Marketing Manager you will manage a portfolio of events and marketing activity across a number of major programmes of activity for our client.

You will develop comprehensive communications and engagement strategies for products, services, projects and programmes as a whole, the Communications and Marketing team delivers consistent value to the organisation and you will be expected to contribute to this.

The role holder will take responsibility of a portfolio of activities and take ownership of end to end delivery of events campaigns.

You will have the support of colleagues from across the Communications and Marketing team as well as across the business but be expected to take the lead in understanding requirements, planning, delivering and evaluating activities.

Main duties of the post

  • Develop and implement targeted events and marketing plans and event briefs that meet the needs of Communications and Marketing activities and support the wider organisations Communications and Marketing strategies
  • Provide on-the-day event delivery
  • Manage external contracts and drive best value from external suppliers at all times
  • Engage effectively with senior management, provide comprehensive and accurate event briefs and pre-event support
  • Develop campaign collateral that is fit for purpose, consistent with brand guidelines and tone
  • Evaluate effectiveness of events and provide insight into continuous improvements
  • Create business cases to support individual campaigns and planned activities
  • Support the development of overall campaign plans by providing expert events and marketing insight and knowledge of effective practice
  • Maintain a calendar of events, using insight derived from across the business to populate the calendar, highlighting opportunities
  • Ensure all activities undertaken are value adding, with clear objectives and tangible benefits
  • Work closely with colleagues to share knowledge and insight and collaborate with digital communications, account management, internal communications and campaign delivery teams to ensure a streamlined and joined up approach to departmental activity
  • Deputise for the Senior Marketing and Events Manager, as required

Essential criteria

  • Educated to degree level within relevant field of events, marketing or communications and/or have relevant experience and proven track record within a communications, engagement, events or marketing environment
  • Extensive experience of planning and effectively delivering small, medium and large scale events
  • Excellent planning skills and the ability to deliver to tight and often competing deadlines with the ability to own and deliver multiple events in own portfolio at any given time
  • Ability to establish productive relationships with people at all levels both internally and external to the organisation
  • Practical knowledge and experience of marketing techniques
  • Ability to be flexible with working pattern.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team creating and delivering comprehensive campaigns, of which events is one element
  • Experience of working closely with digital communications teams to support development of long term social media content calendar
  • Experience of working on a long term event calendar themed around one key focus
