ROLE SUMMARY

The SOC Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of the day to day running of the SOC and communication with the regional stakeholders. This includes the responsibility for protective monitoring, incident response, threat detection and security device management.

PRIMARY ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Deliver and manage a high-quality service within agreed service levels to the organisation business community.
  • Accountability for overall SOC operational performance.
  • Ownership of the following processes:
    • Continual Service Improvement
    • Annual appraisal & performance management
    • Training & educational planning
    • Succession planning
    • Mentoring & coaching of standards
    • Policy, strategy & capability development
  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with several geo-disparate security teams.
  • Acting as the focal point for incident escalation during major incidents.
  • Recruiting and retaining a fully functional SOC team in accordance with operational needs.
  • Managing team utilisation and technology resources to ensure optimal performance.
  • Advice on general security issues at a policy and compliance level.
  • Produce scheduled KPI reports and monitor associated services levels for compliance.
  • Contribute to the reduction of incident frequency using ITIL methodologies such as incident management and problem management.
SECONDARY ROLE

Secondary responsibilities include:
  • Act as the focal representative for the SOC at management meetings.
  • Act as change manager for the SOC.
  • Perform other essential duties as required.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Essential skills & experience includes:
  • Stakeholder management
  • Knowledge of industry best-practice, InfoSec policies & governance methodologies.
  • Process development
  • Service management
  • Resource & team management
  • Knowledge of relevant legal obligations & applicable legislation such as GDPR/ISO
  • Demonstrable experience of leading a team within a similar environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Formal report writing
DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Desirable skills & experience includes:
  • CISSP or CISM
  • ISO27001 Lead Auditor or relevant experience
  • Supplier management
  • ITIL Service Operations Lifecycle
