Middleware Engineer - Apache, Tomcat, JBoss, Weblogic, J2EE, Perl, Powershell
Role Responsibilities
- Install, configure and maintain Apache HTTP server, Tomcat, JBoss EAP 7.2 and Weblogic 12.2.
- Deploy application packages/archives onto J2EE runtime environments. Support connectivity from end users and data sources, including AD SSO and federated sources
- Take ownership of 3rd Line IT support issues and work with vendor for 4th line. The candidate must be comfortable with addressing critical incidents.
- Lead the design, implementation, and support of highly available J2EE runtime environments to support both local failure and disaster recovery..
- Maintain the integrity and availability of the Infrastructure, including hardening environments to enterprise security standards.
- Provide technical support for projects as directed.
- Responsibility for Lab environment - testing, application builds, processes.
- Responsibility for Data Centre environment: testing, server builds, deployment.
- Assist in patch management and application packaging and hardening.
- Perform critical system changes outside of business hours, as well as being part of an on call rota.
- To ensure ongoing adherence to all relevant compliance regulations that may govern the OVF business and complete all regulatory knowledge training where applicable in a timely fashion.
- Proactively identify opportunities for improvements to existing processes and for automation of time consuming tasks
- Author policy, procedure and standards documents based on industry best practices and personal research and experience
- Perform Administrative functions in Active Directory, Exchange, McAfee and MDM as directed.

- Strong knowledge of JBoss EAP, Apache, Tomcat.
- Thorough knowledge of F5 load balancing/clustering (LTM/GTM)
- Thorough knowledge of automated deployment Scripting/tools for J2EE environments.
- Knowledge of Linux and Windows UNIX Scripting (eg Perl/powershell)
- Expert knowledge of troubleshooting JBoss environment from a performance and capacity perspective
- Strong Knowledge of Weblogic Application Server platform
Qualifications
- Successful candidate will have experience working with enterprise level JBoss services including extensive project related work, preferably application development projects and packaged application installation projects.
- Experience of supporting global organisations.
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving data integrity issues, performance issues, replication issues, log issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.
- Extensive experience performing JBoss software installation, application installation, Environment sizing, Environment performance tuning
- Red Hat certified preferred.
