Description

Software architecture and development consultancy seeks suitably experienced, SC cleared Web Developer to work on both client and Server Side of MOD Request Historic Service Records project. The project will involve iterative development of prototype through private and public Beta stages ensuring readiness for live service in accordance with Government Digital Service Standard and Government Technology Code of Practice.

Specialist will be able to work remotely, eg from home.

We expect this engagement to be outside IR35.

Essential skills and experience

Technical

  • Proven experience in use of industry standard web application technologies such as HTML, CSS, Java, JavaScript, PHP, Ruby and Python
  • Proven experience in use of service-based technologies such as SOAP, RESTful APIs, XML and JSON
  • Experience of deploying and building web applications on Cloud Foundry using buildpacks and the CLI
  • Experience delivering outputs in line with Government Digital Service Design and Manual and Government Technology code of practice and assessment process.
  • Experience of working using Agile Methodology, involving iterative product development based on user needs and stories.
  • Experience working alongside a user researcher and technical architect using user centred design practices to ensure user stories and user research are at the heart of product design.
  • Proven ability to design services to meet valid user needs including planning, designing and conducting usability testing of prototypes.
  • Experience of developing products to meet the needs of assisted digital users to ensure the service is designed to enable a maximum digital take up.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication including strong negotiation skills and the ability to influence external partners, suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Current SC clearance.

Highly desirable skills and experience

  • Understanding of Government Digital Service Design principles.
  • Experience designing services for GOV.UK.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary agile teams.
  • Experience of developing products to meet the needs of assisted digital users to ensure the service is designed to enable maximum digital take up.
