Description

We are currently partnering with a well known public sector organisation based in South Wales seeking an experienced service desk professional to join their team on an initial 3 month contract.

Job Summary/Job Purpose

Support, maintain and install IT hardware and software across the Organisation in accordance with policies and procedures. Troubleshoot connectivity issues on the Local Area Network.

Respond to enquiries from staff and provide assistance, advice and remote troubleshooting of computer system problems as required as part of the ICT Service Desk service escalating issues when necessary.

Ensure all Client devices have up to date Anti-Virus software and Operating System patches via appropriate Control Management software.

Key Tasks

Technical fault finding including

o Hardware problems to component level

o Software configuration, compatibility and interaction issues

o Simple Local Area Network (LAN) communication problems

Ensure that work undertaken does not adversely impact the availability of business critical systems.

Be aware of the limits of one's own and team knowledge, skills and abilities.

Assess the security impact and implications of incidents and report to Line Manager accordingly.

Escalate support issues as appropriate.

Ensure that scheduled work is completed within timescales to agreed quality standards and in line with departmental procedures.

Understand and abide by the organisations IT Security, Internet and E-mail policies.

Advise internal personnel on IT security matters as appropriate.

Responsible for safe use of IT equipment whilst repairing/upgrading in line with health and safety policies.

Responsible for installing, maintaining and upgrading of IT equipment in line with departmental procedures.

Accurately enter information gathered from Service Desk calls onto the IT Service Desk database. Update and escalate calls in accordance with departmental guidelines.

Create, update and maintain records on the IT asset database
