VMWARE VCF Administrator (NSX Support)
Our client, a global provider of IT services, requires an experienced VMWARE Administrator for a 6 month temporary contract based in based in London. There may be an opportunity for further extension.
This position will be part of the Internal Cloud Platform Migration Support Project in Foundation Services.
Requirements:
- Understanding of all components of VCF this includes: SDDC manager, vSphere, vSAN, NSX for vSphere and vRealize Suite.
- Good understanding of VMware vSphere components and their function in the infrastructure
- Good Understanding of vCenter Server architecture
- Experience in Managing vCenter Server Appliance and Platform services controller appliance
- Experience in VM migration from vSphere 5.x to 6.x
- Knowledge in working with VMware vCenter Converter tool
- Knowledge on VMware Hybrid Cloud Extension(HCX) for VM migration
- Experience in working with content library as an ISO store, and deploy a virtual machine
- Previous experience in Configuring and managing vSphere infrastructure with VMware Host Client and VMware vSphere® Client
- Experience in working with vCenter Server storages: VMware vSphere® VMFS, NFS, iSCSI, and RDM
- Experience in managing virtual machines, templates, clones, and snapshots
- Knowledge of how virtual machines vMotion® and virtual machine Storage vMotion® works
- Experience in managing resource pools
- Good understanding of VMware vSphere® High Availability (vSphere HA) and cluster architecture
- Managing vSphere HA and VMware vSphere® Fault Tolerance
- Knowledge of VMware vSphere® Distributed Resource Scheduler to improve host scalability
- Experience in working with VMware vSphere® Update Manager to apply patches and perform basic troubleshooting of ESXi hosts, virtual machines, and vCenter Server operations
Experience in VMware NSX Support:
- Excellent Knowledge of NSX components and their function in the infrastructure
- Excellent understanding of Networking technologies, including security and monitoring aspects
- Excellent understanding of VMware NSX technologies and automation concepts
- Deploy and Configure NSX components for management, control plane and data plane
- Good understanding and knowledge of NSX layer 2 networking
- Deploy and Configure NSX distributed Router appliances to establish east-west connectivity
- Deploy and Configure VMware NSX® Edge services gateway appliances to establish north-south connectivity
- Deploy and Configure logical switch networks
- Deploy and configure NSX L2 bridging
- Deploy and Configure all main features of the NSX Edge services gateway such as load balancing, NAT,DHCP and VPN etc.
- Design and Configure NSX Edge Firewall rules to restrict network traffic
- Design and Configure NSX distributed Firewall rules to restrict network traffic
- Design and implement micro-segmentation using NSX distributed Firewall
- Design and implement Service Composer policies
- Design and Implement an identity-aware Firewall
- Good Understanding of NSX data security
- Excellent Network administration and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
