Resident Engineer (Kosice Slovakia)
The related activity is related to migration activities from Cisco to Juniper or Juniper to Juniper technologies. Migrations will require a preparation phase to prepare the target configurations, typically performed during normal business hours, plus night shift activities during the swap phase. 2/3 night shifts per week are planned to be performed.

The Resident Engineer will be a member of a technical team including colleagues from the Professional Services and Advanced Services organizations.

Responsibilities:
This is a full-time job position. On-site technical support to the customer may require the Resident Engineer:
• To hold design and information gathering workshops with the customer to understand the customer’s existing network design and technical requirements of new network designs;
• To understand the customer’s organizational structure and become familiar with the customer’s network implementation and support processes and procedures to help in designing a network that is available and sustainable;
• To carry out testing of new features and functionality required by the customer in a laboratory environment and to implement and verify that they are operating correctly in the live network;
• To test patches and fixes to operating software and to ensure that they are implemented and functioning correctly in the live network;
• To troubleshoot equipment and network problems and to assist JTAC with technical cases through to problem resolution;
• To perform network optimization and configuration reviews;
• To produce a written summary report of the status of equipment and network problems on a regular basis to the customer;
• To hold technology workshops with the customer to discuss equipment and network problems, and to provide case status updates, including the reasons for any problems encountered and the workarounds and/or solutions that are being tried;
• To hold knowledge transfer workshops for the customer’s design, implementation and support personnel to configure and operate the Juniper Networks products;
• To assist the customer to develop Network Operating and Equipment Operating Procedures;
• To peer with other employees performing similar resident engineering roles where lessons learned may help minimize risk associated with major network upgrades or changes in the network.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum 5-year experience providing implementation and technical support of networking products (routers and switches) in WAN and LAN environments.
The ideal candidate for this role must be able to demonstrate the following credentials:
1. A detailed understanding of the protocols surrounding IP service provider networks. These skills should include:
2. TCP/IP fundamentals
3. IP sub-netting and super-netting and hierarchical routing principles
4. Routing protocol operation (OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, RSVP, IPv6, and BGP)
5. Routing policies at BGP peering points
6. VPNs and the associated tunneling technologies (L2TP, MPLS, etc.)
7. Detailed technical experience in the installation and operation of switches and IP routers. This includes hands-on operation of management tools and network analyzers;
8. Strong experience in troubleshooting complex issues both at the device-level and network-level, in a multi-vendor environment. Able to isolate and identify configuration, design and product issues;
9. Previous experience with Juniper Networks products (MX) and JUNOS software.
10. Comfortable with Linux or other UNIX implementations, with scripting skills;
11. Strong Interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a diverse, multicultural team;
12. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work efficiently on multiple projects and under pressure;
13. Strong communications skills; ability to clearly articulate findings in written and verbal communications targeting different audiences: technical and non-technical, staff and management;

Preferred Qualifications:
The following credentials are strong plus for this position:
1. Juniper Networks Technical Certifications: JNCIP or JNCIE;
2. Previous experience in network design, installation and deployment with MX, in a Service Provider or large enterprise environment;
3. Experience in migration projects from Cisco to Juniper.
