RPG Developer - 5 months Glasgow city centre (remote whilst on lockdown) - £ per day - can use your PSC
Main Duties/Responsibilities
The Role entails working as part of a team which supports the in house Healthcare Administration system. You will have a close working relationship with the users of this system and in addition to day to day support, you will be involved in all aspects of the systems development cycle from systems design through development, modification and system testing.
- To undertake analysis, design and programming tasks to current standards.
- To communicate with user departments, gaining/maintaining an in-depth knowledge of their business functions, understanding their needs, explaining the impact of any change in their technical environment and potentially training them in the use of new applications.
- To participate with the user in developing systems and acceptance test data and establish measurement criteria.
- To prepare specifications and perform coding of areas of change.
- To perform program development and change.
- To investigate, evaluate and report alternative solutions to business needs and recommend the preferred solution.
- To work as part of a project team, undertaking tasks as directed by the project or team leader.
- To assess production problems and determine appropriate solutions.
- To gather information regarding specified operational areas by reviewing procedures, historical files and documentation.
- To maintain a good knowledge of relevant software, hardware, communications, data base management and distributed processing techniques, and to recommend use of appropriate outside software to system and user management.
Skills
Experience Required
- Minimum 3 years RPG
Skills
- Proficient in RPG400 or RPG IV, CL,Query, SQL and DB2 design and development
- Useful but not essential would be knowledge of Createform, VB, FTP, Free format RPG, Journaling, Crystal Reporting, ProfoundUI, ITIL
