Description

3 Month Contract for a Highways Engineer with experience of Bridge inspections, you must have experience in Bridge Inspections using Bridgestation - essential Autocad experience

To develop and agree project briefs with clients. To provide appropriate monitoring and client feedback throughout the project. To prepare programmes, financial estimates and models for specific projects and work programmes.

To undertake inspections and surveys, specialist investigations and prepare feasibilitiy studies for a range of projects relating to the management and maintenance of highways and related assets, and for a diverse range of Environmental, Building and/or Civil Engineering projects. To undertake the detailed design for maintenance and improvement projects, and for new build' schemes. To ensure that project proposals comply with relevant legal statutes, British Standards and Codes of Practice.

To comply with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations where appropriate and in particular, to undertake the designer's duties'.

To prepare specifications and contracts. To procure and manage work through the appointment of specialist contractors or specialist consultants, or to commission works through the Council's term contract arrangements.

To supervise contractors to ensure that they are appropriately performance managed in accordance with the Conditions of Contract, with appropriate support from the Principal Engineer, and that the quality of workmanship is in accordance with the specification. To keep maintenance records, and to make accurate measurements, valuations and contractual payments. To participate in collaborative working relationships with suppliers, contractors and other relevant organisations in order to maximize the opportunity for innovative and sustainable solutions.

To check and control expenditure and financial commitments in connection with the postholder's projects and to refer contentious issues to the Principal Engineer.

To communicate effectively with residents, Members, stakeholders and third parties regarding work programmes and projects and to deal with general enquiries and correspondence. To refer more contentious issues to the Principal or Group Engineer.

To undertake detailed checking of proposals submitted to the Council for approval under environmental, highway, drainage and associated legislation, with guidance from the Principal Engineer for more complex issues.

Any other duties reasonably requested by management
