We have excellent opportunities for a RAN Engineers to work for a Leading Telco Brand.

The Role
Technically defining and deciding upon the solutions in RAN Tools & Systems, Configuration and Coverage to make sure the network is maintained to be always as designed, through implementation of state of the art tools across 4G and 5G.
Accountable for the technical design and evolution for RAN Configuration with focus upon to self resolve problems automatically.
Accountabilities:

  • Support and develop RAN designs
  • The role has a deep technical knowledge to develop and advise the approach on a range of complex, high impact and high-risk customer solutions, and how to apply across their dedicated environment within the above network.
  • Design and define support, test, configuration of configuration management systems and a transformation
  • To full closed loop configuration processes using Nokia Advanced Configurator (NAdC) for 4G and 5G RAN.
  • Engaging with RAN suppliers to decide upon design scope for configuration management based on their technology releases specification, as well as estimating the time and type of resource needed to support the deliverables with increasing cost impact and time duration.
  • Assessing 5G impact to existing RAN Configuration activities and defining the design changes required to support 5G solutions and services.
  • The role will also decide on resolving customer affected issues regarding the configuration tools. Driving efficiency and scalability through the re-use of network designs and ongoing in-life operation of designs across the overall network platform and/or customer solution"
  • Carry out validation of updated versions of existing tools working in collaboration with the user community.
  • Determining development impact to tools to support new radio configuration parameters driven by the evolution of 2G/4G/5G and NB IoT. Note 3G configuration is achieved thtough a shared MBNL IT tool.
    Roadmap prioritisation. Representing EE on project boards (MBNL IT) as a RAN Configuration/Tools & System subject matter expert thus supporting configuration and roll out of EE's radio network.

Essential Skills

Technical:

  • Deep understanding of Mobile Radio Network architectures and the design and operational processes to develop and run the network.
  • Strong scientific and mathematical background. Excellent computer literacy with experience of complex Excel/Access and analytical techniques.
  • Experience of working with MS Access databases.
  • Basic knowledge of GERAN/UTRAN/EUTRAN/OSS architecture.
  • Detailed working knowledge of computer programming, and in particular VB/VBA.
  • Story-telling with data:
  • Strong skills in building the case for change, drawing on data and analytical techniques where appropriate, and communicating this to both technical and wider business audiences.
  • Excellent data analytical skills, with the ability to present findings and derive technical and business recommendations. 

Essential Experience

  • Extensive experience in Mobile Radio Access Network Design with specific experience as acting as the primary technical interface between Design and Regulatory teams
  • Previous experience of network planning and optimisation, with detailed knowledge of Nokia and Huawei OSS approach to RAN Configuration, understanding data parameter sets and data formats from RAN Network Element Managers.
  • Some experience with Oracle and/or ODBC connectivity
  • Background knowledge of XML
