Description

Reporting to an assigned Project Manage or Scrum Master, the Business Architect is responsible for working with the development and integration team(s) in a SOA environment to meet client commitments according to plan. The Business Architect will provide expertise in the design and build of high value solutions that are integral to the core business services of the client. .

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Utilizing knowledge of the life insurance industry, wealth management and product functionality to lead the design and development of business models.
2. Provides a single point of responsibility for the RADIENCE business solution and the business architecture.
3. Participates and contributes during sales studies in order to identify business needs with respect to RADIENCE.
4. Coordinating activities or specified deliverables within a project life cycle.
5. Providing leadership, direction and training to less experienced team members in all aspects of the software development life cycle.
6. Mentoring RADIENCE developers according to established accreditation monitors.
7. Collaborating with Technical Architect, Business Analysts, RADIENCE Modelers, ProductXpress Modelers and, Testers to ensure all aspects of requirements are met.
8. Contributing to the resolution of all system problems.
9. Consulting with customers to define needs or problem areas, and determining scope of investigation required to recommend possible solutions in Change Control situations.
10. Documenting as appropriate to the Project e.g. Release Notes, Technical Specifications, Peer Reviews

QUALIFICATIONS

1. 5+ years experience working in a RADIENCE project environment.
2. Expert knowledge of RADIENCE Design Editor.
3. Developed expertise in Traditional and Non-Traditional Life, Annuity and Disability Income product concepts and their associated business processes.
4. Working toward FLMI designation or equivalent.
5. Experience with and a solid understanding of Software Development Life Cycle methodologies: Agile; Waterfall; Iterative; and, Hybrid.
6. Experience in SCRUM Management processes
7. Expert knowledge in systems development with particular focus on designing, developing and building business content:
i. Business data modeling and process modeling (experience using Use Case, RSM/RSA or other modeling tools, UML concepts etc)
ii. Object oriented modeling
iii. Debugging and version control knowledge.
iv. Familiarity with Relational Database Management System (e.g. for DB2, Oracle) and SQL queries
v. Good knowledge of XML
vi. Awareness of interoperability standards e.g. ACORD for SOA environment
vii. Reasonable working knowledge of industry standard word processing, database and spreadsheet software (i.e. Microsoft Suite of Products)
viii. Working experience with the technical architecture of ProductXpress and Pathfinder applications with a focus on their integration within the customer’s environment.
ix. Understanding of software development solutions such as Rational Rose and Rational Software Modeler/Rational Software Architect
8. Minimum of 10 years life insurance/assurance/financial industry experience.
9. Minimum 7 years in business data modeling and process modeling (experience using Use Case, XDE or other modeling tools, UML concepts etc)
10. Minimum 5 years experience in estimating work effort.
11. Software development experience involving policy administration systems, calculation engines and business rules engines.
12. A university degree/college diploma or equivalent business experience.
13. Experience working in a multiple project environment, having worked through the entire development life cycle.
14. Experience in a matrix reporting environment.
