Content Designer required by Whitehall Resources for an initial 6 month contract

This position will be remote until at least the end of the year, but you could potentially be required in York in 2021

Job Spec-

Looking for a lead content designer to oversee content strategy and design across a flagship programme of work. You'll be comfortable managing content across multiple workstreams and channels, and working with stakeholders to maintain a consistent approach which meets the Government Service Standard. You'll maintain a high level view of how user journeys map to government processes, drawing on research and data to steer content development for complex transactional and information services.

Role and responsibilities:

- Lead on the creation of content across channels that meets user needs and departmental objectives
- Develop content strategies based on user research and analytics data and iteratively improve existing content
- Take part in user research and work effectively with multidisciplinary, Agile teams to contribute to an overall user experience
- Build relationships and work closely with policy, legal and other expert colleagues to make sure content is accurate and consistent
- Promote a user-centred approach to content design
- Oversee small team of content designers to establish consistency across workstreams
- Implement style standards and peer review processes
- Review others' work and be a source of advice on the best content design tools and methods
- Take part in content discussions at a senior level

Essential previous experience required:

- Made significant strategic decisions about content creation in other roles
- Experience of writing and editing using a style guide and plain English
- Experience of working in an Agile or similar multidisciplinary environment
- Regularly used analytics data and other evidence, such as user research, to make content decisions
- Managed other team members, including reviewing their work and providing feedback
- Experience of working with senior stakeholders
- Experience of explaining content decisions to non-experts in, for example, presentations or workshops
