6-9 month contract, £400 - £450 per day, remote working

Our client is a highly successful medium sized organisation who now require an experienced interim finance director.

Primary purpose of job:

To provide strategic leadership and management of the Finance and Company Secretarial functions.
To ensure the financial viability and probity as an organisation and the efficient use of resources.

Duties and key responsibilities:

1. To contribute to the overall strategic leadership by attending and supporting Board and Committee meetings, as well as full participation in the Executive and Management Teams.
2. To oversee the delivery of all financial functions within the organisation including, but not limited to, annual budgets and business plans, the internal control environment, tax matters, provision of timely management information, production of reports for:
a. Senior Management
b. The Executive team; and
c. The Board of Trustees
d. Board Committees
to support decision making and the delivery of the organisation's wider strategic aims.
3. To ensure the provision of company secretarial support and services to the organisation, including the provision of external legal advice where required.
4. To lead relationship with the Charity Commission and to ensure the provision of appropriate advice on our charitable status.
5. To lead relationship with the Pensions Regulator and to ensure the provision of appropriate advice on our pension schemes.
6. To lead on initiatives to improve the overall efficiency of the organisation, remove waste, and embed a culture of continuous improvement.
7. To deliver cost effective catering services to meet the organisations requirements.
8. To provide the secretariat and ensure the effective administration and functioning of the Audit & Risk Committee, and the Investment Committee, in line with the terms of reference.
9. To assume the responsibilities of a Divisional Director which include:
a. To effectively plan, manage, monitor the resources of the Division (including staff, budgets, knowledge and contacts) to deliver the agreed strategic outcomes and corporate objectives
b. To ensure all staff in the Division operate at the level of competency for their posts, to coach, support and develop staff to enhance their performance and to take effective steps to deal with underperformance
c. To ensure that the work of the Division supports and is co-ordinated with other Divisions to achieve the organisation's strategic aims and corporate objectives.
d. To ensure that the Division adheres to organisation wide policies, procedures, values and behaviours of the organisation.
e. To ensure the effective use of resources across the Division and that expenditure is effectively monitored and controlled.
10. To undertake any other activities or tasks that are consistent with the role and/or reasonably required by the Chief Executive.
11. To take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and of other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work; and to co-operate so far as is necessary to enable it to ensure the health, safety and welfare at work of all its employees.
Person Specification

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
Qualified accountant and member of one of the major chartered accountancy bodies in the UK.
Commercially focused with a good grasp of business principles.
Good relationship builder at all levels (internally & externally)
Excellent communication skills; both oral and written and excellent interpersonal skills.
Desirable
Educated to degree level.

EXPERIENCE
Essential
At least 5 years' experience in finance and senior management.
Experienced in the preparation of annual budgets and re-forecasting on a regular basis.
Desirable
Experience of the charitable sector.
Experience of contract drafting and negotiation.
