Linux Engineer - System Engineer - 6 months - up to £400 (Umbrella)
Are you an experienced System Engineer with strong skills in Linux platform technology?
We are looking for a number of Systems Engineers to support a major transformation and storage migration project for our client. You will be joining the internal team to support the planning, migration delivery and troubleshooting of environments using amongst others SUSE Linux, Red hat Linux, CentOS, OEL & ASM, VMWare, Apache and Scripting (Perl, Python, Bash).
This will suit someone with previous experience as a System Engineer supporting enterprise-scale Linux environments, has experience of working on migration projects and who has excellent communication and relationship building skills.
Technically, successful candidates will have excellent knowledge and experience of

  • RedHat Enterprise Linux
  • SUSE Enterprise Linux
  • HPE Blades & Server technology
  • Storage knowledge such as SAN, GPFS, ASM, Disk Migration & Multipathing
  • Knowledge of IBM AIX, Scripting (Perl, Python, Bash), BladeLogic, McAfee security products would be an advantage
  • Database systems

In addition you will also be able to demonstrate

  • Strong customer facing skills
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong skills in estate management
  • Experience of performance tuning and management
  • Experience of patching and vulnerability management
  • The ability to translate complex technical concepts in easy to understand documentation/presentations
  • ITIL & Agile best practice experience

Flexibility to work out of hours/on call is expected. The initial contract will be remotely due to COVID restrictions although onsite work may be required once restrictions have lifted.
