Container Specialist

Our international client is undertaking a significant modernisation program of its existing IT systems and architecture and rapidly moving towards a cloud-based IT solution. This includes a significant redesign of their Legacy applications using the latest principles in software delivery. Additionally, the infrastructure to support the modern platform is being overhauled to align with the future vision and values of the organisation.

Location: All activities shall be performed 100% Off-Site.

Start Date; April 2021. Duration 1 year with the possibility of multiple extensions.

Working Language is English. knowledge of either German or French is a pre.

  • Kubernetes cluster management and administration

    CoreOS Linux container management

    Blue/green and canary deployment

    Onboard/manage/decommission cloud-native on-premises implementation (Docker and Kubernetes)

    Perform housekeeping activities, such as reacting to alerts, fixing platform health issues, restarting master or worker nodes, extending memory or disk space, clean up disk space, etc

    Support on updates and upgrades of operating system used for Kubernetes Platform(CoreOs and Fedora CoreOS) by testing new software with K8s support team or other application and infrastructure teams and running upgrade procedures (eg maintain the ignition files, re-test dynamically storage provisioning processes, re-test FCmultipathing configurations, verify the network configurations, etc).

    Common requirements:

    Agile scrum experience

    Experience working in a large/enterprise environment.

    Jira incident and change management experience.

    Monitoring (Nagios) and responding to incidents and user requests (Escalation procedures)

    Able to assist with and manage hardware incidents and upgrades and perform root cause analysis.

    Flexible and Responsive and able to work alone and within large virtual teams.

    Able to support and assist application developers and application owners.

    Experience working with physical and virtual Servers (VMware)

    Perform regular system updates and system patching.

    Server security management and incident handling

    Document any relevant information about systems and applications gained.

    Transfer of knowledge to our client's internal staff or other Contractors as and when requested by client.

    Support monitoring teams in alarms troubleshooting and escalation to suppliers.

    Perform any other tasks assigned by the client.

    Able to create and manage Bash scripts.

    On board for service or decommission any further UNIX/Linux requested versions or flavours (eg, Ubuntu, CentOS, etc)
