Description

First Article Inspector required for long term contract assignment based in Bolton

Carry out First Article Inspection (FAI) activities in support of Industrial Validation plans ensuring that Manufacturing and related processes are applied across all projects and to review supplier FAIs to ensure they meet company requirements.
* Preparation of First Article Inspections through the analysis of the manufacturing datapack and understanding of the associated processes, gathering all the necessary information required.
* Delivery of First Article Inspection reports by witnessing the operations and processes being conducted in the relevant manufacturing area.
* Identification of non-conformances and areas for improvement during the FAI process ensuring the relevant supervision are made aware and understand the issues.
* Compilation of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) to detail findings from FAI conducted.
* Management of non-conformances to closure ensuring that the necessary actions have been taken to prevent recurrence of the issues.
* Review of Supplier FAIRs ensuring they meet the requirements placed on them by the company, liaising with the suppliers to resolve any issues identified in order to release the parts for use in production.
* Compilation of FAI metrics to inform manufacturing management for use in management reviews.

Role requirements (skills, training and qualifications)
* Formal technical Engineering/Craft Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3/TR23/TR21.
* Qualified to minimum HNC/HND in relevant subject.
* Quality Audit experience required.
* First Article Inspection experience essential.
* Extensive knowledge and experience of EN/AS9100 and EN/AS9102.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Planning and organising skills to ensure multiple tasks are prioritised and monitored to deliver set objectives.
* Capability to identify sustainable business improvements & ensure effective implementation.
* Recognise and understand internal and external customer requirements, and respond to them.
* Ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels of the organisation.
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (PowerPoint, Word and Excel).
* Highly self-motivated and demonstrate a determination and persistence to deliver results despite obstacles and setbacks.
* Recognise and understand regulatory and certification requirements, and respond to them.
