Responsible for: 1 or more Apprentice Solutions Architects

Main purpose of post

The Technology Business Unit operates to Design, Deliver, Run and Maintain the technology solutions and services required for the Council to process business and deliver services to the residents of Lambeth. All functions work collaboratively to deliver effective end to end solutions and services.

This role works within the Design function which is accountable for engaging with Business Directorates to highlight innovative and new technologies that may deliver business benefit, capture requirements and design effective technology solutions and services that enable effective business operations.

This role is responsible for creating secure, efficient, and effective detailed technical, digital, data, business and security solutions. Ensuring that such solutions adhere to the technical architecture and meet Lambeth business objectives and requirements. The post holder is responsible for ensuring alignment and adherence to the principles of simplification, sharing and re-use.

In collaboration with stakeholders, partners, and third-party suppliers, the Post Holder contributes to the development of IT plans in exploiting the opportunities to deliver innovative products, services and solutions that deliver benefits to the business and the citizens of Lambeth.

Key Unit Accountabilities

1. Responsible for designing technical infrastructure, data management, security and business solutions that successfully translate user requirements in to effective and efficient solutions to meet business requirements and deliver services for the residents of Lambeth.

2. Responsible for ensuring that enterprise wide and specific business solutions are designed to align correctly to architectural principles and technical architecture to ensure security, standardisation, simplification, sharing and re-use.

3. Responsible for contributing to the development of and for applying policies, standards and good practices when designing solutions to ensure compliance between business and technology plans and enterprise transformation activities in support of business operations.

4. Responsible for contributing to the development of and adherence, to technical standards and principles to inform solutions design. This includes supervision of third-party suppliers to ensure their conformance.

5. Contributing as a technology subject matter expert to the delivery of technical innovation which gives advantage to Lambeth by capturing and prioritising market and environmental trends, business plans and objectives, and identifying the business benefits of alternative approaches ensuring alignment to the enterprise architecture.

6. Responsible for the provision of expert technical advice and guidance to senior managers, contract and supplier assurance teams to ensure suppliers and procured products adhere to the enterprise architecture and principles of operation.

7. Works collaboratively by providing expert technical and security advice and guidance to business partners, operational teams, and suppliers to develop and present business cases, for high-level initiatives, approval, funding, and prioritisation.

8. Responsible for agreeing a personal development plan with the line manager, working to achieve it, and for demonstrating a continuous approach to personal professional development.

9. The post holder should be prepared to work outside of normal hours, including attending evening meetings, and occasional weekend working.

10. Responsible for the design of new and innovative solutions and services with budgets of up to £5 million and ensuring that designs fit both operational and budgetary requirements.

11. Responsible for mentoring and guiding one or more Apprentice Architects to support their personal development and qualification to accredited status.

12. To work flexibly in undertaking the duties and responsibilities of this job and participate as required in multi-disciplinary cross-department and cross- organisational groups and task teams.

13. To take responsibility, relevant to the post, for ensuring that Council statutes and government legislation is upheld. This includes, amongst others, Management Compliance Charter, Environmental Policy, Data Protection Act, Race Equality Action Plan, Quality Assurance Plan, Health & Safety, Sustainable Construction and Recycling.

14. To take responsibility, appropriate to the post for tackling racism and promoting good race, ethnic and community relations.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Key Knowledge
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to assist in influencing, persuading, and negotiating with stakeholders.
Good written, verbal communication and presentation skills
Good customer service skills.

Relevant Experience
Able to demonstrate good experience in a solutions architecture role preferably working within a large Local Authority or with a Service Provider providing solutions architecture services to the public sector.
Must demonstrate a track record of working within effective teams delivering high quality Solutions Architecture services that have been proved successful in meeting complex business requirements and in enabling standardisation, simplification, sharing and re-use
Able to demonstrate a clear understanding and capability to work within relevant IT related standards

Qualification
Educated to A level or equivalent Accredited to TOGAF 9.2 or equivalent methodology Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals.
Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
