The Storage-SUS II migration team is in the process of migrating over 900 multiplatform Servers off end-of-life SAN technologies and into the SVC SAN environment. We are looking for a Senior Windows Engineer to provide technical support during server migrations. Most migrations are done during non-business hours so this person must be available to work flexible hours; including after hours and weekends...
Responsibilities
Complete pre-migration checks including, server health, system backups, cluster health, etc.
Work with Project Coordinator and Project Manager to identify users that are accessing specific systems
Provide technical support during Windows Servers/cluster migrations
Troubleshoot and correct all server issues that may arise during the migration window
Assist the Migration Coordinator and Project Manager with scheduling and other tasks during non-peak periods
Experience:
10 years advance technical knowledge and experience in distributed processing
Extensive experience supporting and configuring Microsoft Cluster
Experience with Windows 2000 and 2K3 OS patching, firmware levels and other server health items
Extensive experience supporting large VMWARE environments
Experience supporting Database infrastructures including but not limited to SQL
Extensive experience in Storage Area Networks. Emulex, Qlogic, HP, etc.
Experience with HDML, SDD and other multipathing software
Command of common office tools (eg Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, e-mail, SharePoint)
Strong implementation and systems integration background
Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
Independent and creative thinker who can go above and beyond
Technical Skills:
Windows Cluster/Standalone
VMware
Novell a plus
Bachelors Degree preferred, but the correct combination of work experience will suffice.
Bachelors degree and 4 6 years of experience. Position on team of server engineers responsible for server solution design, implementation, application integration and support of Distributed technology solutions across the enterprise. Provide tactical support, strategical planning, deployment of client based solutions, and operational management within the distributed Windows server environment. Install, configure, and support N-Tiered applications. Needs knowledge of networking protocols and connectivity, project management experience, the ability to present ideas in a business user friendly language appropriate for technical and non-technical audiences, proven analytical, problem solving, prioritizing skills and the ability to execute in a high pressure environment. Needs advance knowledge of Windows, ASP, XML, J2EE, application Servers, net, IIS, Microsoft clustering, SQL Server installations. Prefer Linux and Scripting capability.
