JOB TITLE: Instrumentation Technician (Prototype)

LOCATION: Gaydon

SALARY: 15.04 per hour

DURATION: Contract

JOB SPECIFICATION/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Objective

To be a key part of the Instrumentation team whose objective is to provide a quality measurement service to support all aspects of vehicle/rig test validation and sign off testing.

Responsibilities
  • The job will be primarily to give Instrumentation support as detailed below.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to have thorough vehicle knowledge and have the ability to dismantle and assemble vehicle components and sub assemblies in order to carry out the instrumentation task.
  • Will be conversant with local general working practices and procedures and will be instrumental in developing the Instrumentation practices and procedures to provide a robust measurement & data collection service.
  • Will be required to build/assemble bespoke Instrumentation systems as directed by the Instrumentation engineers.
    Will have knowledge of different transducers and their applications for making vehicle and rig based measurements.
  • Will have good soldering skills at connector & PCB level.
  • Storage of controlled substances/components safely in correct locations
  • Adhere to company safety, housekeeping & discipline standards.
  • Will be able to work to circuit diagrams/electrical schematics.
  • Assemble components and fit to vehicle/buck/layout board etc in sequence of build and process planning sheets or job routing sheet.
  • Support quality, productivity and process improvements eg Kaizen, Six Sigma initiatives

Qualifications/Experience:

  • The candidate should have completed a full apprenticeship and ideally qualified to HNC standard.
  • Should have had at least 2 years vehicle Instrumentation installation experience.
  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and ability to work to engineering/circuit diagrams.
  • Should hold a full, clean driving licence
  • Should have good communication skills and have understanding of computer systems and software including MS Word & Excel.
