Description
- Global Asset Management Company has an exciting opportunity for a hands-on IT Project Manager with experience at a financial institution. This project manager will be responsible for the planning and successful execution of enhancing a portfolio data management system using cutting edge technology.
- A successful candidate will know how to write Effective Java, and have hands-on experience with domain driven design and database design.
- Responsibilities include project management, domain analysis and design, web service and web application development, code and design reviews, database design, best practice enforcement, budget tracking, management and development of existing staff, and retaining consultants/contractors as needed to achieve architecture project success on schedule and budget. Must follow SDLC and promote best practices for development such as continuous integration and compliant change management.
- The manager will work with development teams globally to put in place strategic architecture initiatives to achieve business goals and objectives. He/she will be responsible for communication with department heads, managers, and business representatives to understand business needs and prioritize accordingly.
- Communicate financial and schedule status regularly to business sponsors
- Formulate effective project teams from staff and contractors to meet project needs
- Organize and motivate staff to ensure successful and effective execution
- Manage relationships with other departments throughout the organization to ensure necessary cooperation to meet goals
- Ensure quality deliverables/releases and adherence to IT SDLC and policies
- Stay abreast of the latest technologies and tools being used to improve IT architecture at the enterprise level
- Hands-on design and development for applications and services
Specific Business Knowledge and Experience Required:
- Experience managing diverse projects of various sizes using 3rd party applications, open source technologies and custom developed solutions; Intimately familiar with an agile project management methodology
- Experience managing, motivating and mentoring technical and business analysis staff; 5+ years of direct supervisory experience for teams of 5 of more staff
- Experience coordinating multiple teams towards a common, integrated goal.
- Experience with SOA Architecture, Business Process Management, IT Security, and Open Source frameworks and libraries
- Experience communicating at executive levels; Comfortable managing scope and change control
- Experience developing and managing project budgets and schedules
- Familiar with technology and software development concepts
Specific Business Knowledge and Experience Desired:
- 5+ years experience working in buy-side asset management Information Technology with a strong preference for Fixed Income experience
- Hands-on experience with JIRA and GreenHopper
- Experience doing Object Oriented Analysis and Design, using Domain Driven Design, and Design Patterns
- Design level experience and solutions incorporating Java, JEE, JPA/Hibernate, JMS, Web Services, Web Applications, HTML, XML, JSON, JavaScript, ETL, and Inversion of Control
