JOB TITLE: Principal Engineer

LOCATION: Gaydon

SALARY: 26.00 per hour - Ltd

DURATION: Contract

JOB SPECIFICATION/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will become part of a small Chassis CAD team that work on multiple program requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS:

The position is 95% based on a CAD terminal working with the Component Engineers to design, update, package, and detail Chassis components.

THE POSITION INVOLVES:

  • Supporting the Chassis component engineers with component and system designs & packages to industry standards that resolve their outstanding Concerns & EPDR's in a timely & robust manner.
  • Working directly with Supplier Engineering teams to establish feasibility of design changes and co-ordinate model data.
  • Preparing detail drawings & models of proposed design changes to support the Release process.
  • Contributing effectively to team technical discussions to ensure that the component engineers understand proposed design change shortcomings.
  • Supporting problem solving/quality teams on the production site as directed by management
  • Keeping abreast of technical developments within the industry, with particular reference to the evolution of C3P I-DEAS and NX5
  • Planning and prioritising own workload.
  • Producing and maintaining suspension kinematic models

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Engineering Degree or HND in appropriate discipline + proven CAD experience within an Automotive or Automotive Component supplier group, including NX5 or I-DEAS CAD authoring tools
  • Experience of Chassis design and road wheel movements including tyre envelope generation
  • Able to work as part of a small team and actively participate in creation and development of innovative design solutions within the CAD environment.
  • Knowledge of Suspension systems including the use of kinematic models to manipulate suspension and steering systems
  • Good working knowledge of Digital buck
  • Some project management experience preferable
