Description

The Role:
As part of the UK Business Unit Control (BUC) team, the role holder will be responsible for performing business unit control related activities on the UK Plc and/or UK NV elements of GTS, which includes the following tasks/processes:
* Ensure that a robust financial control framework is in place in respect of products covered by the UK BUC team
* Manage the P&L and balance sheet reporting, supporting and advising the Regional and Product teams on results
* Complete variance analysis on results including macro analysis, and providing analysis to stakeholders as required
* Develop a full understanding of the product set covered by UK BUC
* Implement monthly balance sheet reconciliation and substantiation processes and controls
* Identify and implement ongoing enhancements to balance sheet reconciliation and substantiation, control, governance and reporting frameworks
* Review and investigate items on balance sheet maps
* Perform monthly balance sheet analytical review processes
* Prepare evidencing documentation to support monthly balance sheet substantiation processes
* Respond to balance sheet review queries as required
* Perform key aspects of monthly ledger close processes, including preparing manual journals, and support quarterly reporting processes as required
* Build and develop relationships with Finance personnel across all GTS businesses, SSF SD, GTS FC Statutory Reporting and Control, CBD Business Controls and other teams as required to ensure that control and governance requirements are met and group accounting policies are adhered to
* Drive any changes required in the management and/or legal structures resulting from product changes
* Respond to ad hoc queries and requests from line manager and senior management within GTS Finance
* Provide support and analysis as required to GIA, GCA, SSF and CBD Business Controls and External Audit

Essential Experience: (Must have skills)
* Qualified accountant
* Strong understanding of financial control and related risks within the Finance environment
* Strong understanding of reconciliation and balance sheet substantiation
* Track record of delivering process improvements
* Good analytical skills
* Track record of proven ability in interfacing with Operational, Business and other Finance teams

Supplementary Experience: (Useful additional skills)
* Good knowledge of RBS UK plc and UK NV systems including SCORE, SGL, Walker, Khalix, RAP, Business Objects
* Strong Microsoft Excel and Access skills
