Description
We have an opening for the role of Performance Engineering Consultant who will be responsible for performance engineering services as part of a customer*s application development life cycle and/or performance testing practices. This will start off as a 6-12 month assignment but could turn into a very long term or permanent opportunity for someone who is willing to also travel.* The candidate should have at least 3 years* experience with Enterprise computing systems with emphasis on performance engineering, testing or performance management.
* This candidate should possess critical thinking skills for performance analysis, discovery and simulation of real-world performance conditions, performance test execution (manual and automated), performance analysis, bottleneck identification and remediation.
* The candidate should have expertise in performance testing methodology, infrastructure engineering and performance-related issues such as migration planning & troubleshooting, disaster recovery, application security, directory services, networking, and system performance tuning.
* The candidate should have generalist knowledge in all aspects of performance project scoping and test plan design and will require independent outcomes-based approach to project execution.
Responsibilities:
* This person will be responsible for assisting customers with mitigation of the performance risk from large scale IT projects or distributed deployments (global or nationwide) of applications.
* The candidate will be expected to demonstrate and give examples of their ability to function and contribute to a team-oriented environment both onsite at the customer*s location and also remotely from offsite locations.
* This candidate will act as a resource to customers* various testing and operations organizations and will provide on-going consulting for planning, deployment, change control and migration issues.
* The candidate will also be responsible for identifying client related issues and assisting customers in finding the proper resources. Excellence in written technical documentation is expected.
* Design performance testing scenarios for various types of test objectives and enable diverse types of performance analysis.
* Deliver timely and high quality performance remediation focusing on root cause analysis, prevention, and knowledge transfer.
* Utilize knowledge of the customer*s technical environment to resolve issues in a timely manner.
* Effectively manage critical situations including documented action plans and daily status updates for the customer and management.
* Initiate and participate in triage meetings to share knowledge with other engineers and to efficiently resolve customer problems.
Qualifications:
* 4 year technical degree or equivalent work experience; 3-5 years experience in system performance engineering testing, diagnostics or optimization in an Enterprise environment.
* Demonstrated technical competence with performance testing tools such as HP LoadRunner, Borland Performer, Microsoft Visual Studio TEST or equivalent open source tools.
* Good working knowledge of distributed system architectures, network architectures and distributed transaction processing.
* Ability to effectively communicate with customer managers and executives on technical and business issues.
* Certifications in Networking and/or Performance tools are preferred.
