Description
This position is a member of a research and design team and is responsible for detailed feature usability and interaction design for software applications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participating in design meetings to understand user, business and technical requirements of new application features.
- Designing appropriate methods and mechanisms of user interaction.
- Working with Development to understand the technical issues associated with the new applications and to ensure that the prototyped features can be implemented.
- Producing detailed functional specifications pertaining to application usability and interaction design.
- Assisting in the creation of quality assurance test plans.
- 20% Travel
Experience:
- 3 years experience in user interface design.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Experience working in a virtual/remote environment.
- Demonstrated experience with a variety of user research techniques including usability testing, task analysis, contextual inquiry, field research, and competitive testing.
- Extensive experience with analysis and definition of user requirements, and establishment of usability directions and conceptual design based on functional requirements, user needs, and findings from user research.
- Ability to produce effective user interaction models - requirements documentation, wire frame design concept models and prototypes at all levels of fidelity.
- Expertise in several of the following a plus: iRise, Axure, Balsamiq.
- Self-motivated; consistently exceeding the minimum job requirements.
Required:
- BS in Human Factors Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, Experimental or Cognitive Psychology or other HCI-related field.
- Experience with web GUI frameworks.
- Exceptional problem solving skills.
